Authorship Criteria

WASPADA: Wawasan Pengembangan Pendidikan

1. General Authorship Policy

WASPADA: Wawasan Pengembangan Pendidikan implements an authorship policy to ensure that every individual listed as an author has made a substantial and accountable scientific contribution to the research and manuscript preparation. Authorship reflects intellectual contributions to the research and development of scholarly work rather than merely academic status, institutional position, organizational affiliation, or administrative support.

The determination of authorship must be conducted transparently, fairly, and with the mutual agreement of all contributors. All authors share responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the manuscripts submitted to and published in the journal.

2. Authorship Requirements

Individuals listed as authors must fulfill all of the following criteria:

  1. Have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the research, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of research findings.

  2. Have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual and scientific content.

  3. Have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript to be published.

  4. Have agreed to take responsibility for the integrity of the work and to assist in resolving questions or concerns regarding the accuracy or validity of any part of the research.

Individuals who have only provided financial support, research facilities, administrative assistance, language editing, or general supervision without meeting the authorship criteria are not automatically entitled to authorship.

Such contributions may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, provided that the individuals concerned have given their consent.

3. Author Contributions and Authorship Order

Each author is required to provide accurate and transparent information regarding their individual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.

WASPADA: Wawasan Pengembangan Pendidikan encourages authors to follow the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to clearly identify their respective contributions.

These contributions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conceptualization: Development of research ideas, objectives, and overall research goals.

  • Methodology: Development or design of research methods and procedures.

  • Investigation: Conducting research activities, experiments, or data collection.

  • Data Curation: Management, organization, validation, and preservation of research data.

  • Formal Analysis: Application of analytical techniques to interpret research findings.

  • Writing – Original Draft: Preparation and writing of the initial manuscript.

  • Writing – Review and Editing: Critical review, revision, and improvement of the manuscript.

  • Supervision: Academic guidance and oversight of research activities.

  • Funding Acquisition: Acquisition of financial resources supporting the research.

The order of authorship must be determined through mutual agreement among all authors, taking into consideration their respective academic and intellectual contributions.

The journal does not determine authorship order based on academic qualifications, professional positions, seniority, or institutional hierarchy.

4. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial team throughout the submission, peer-review, publication, and post-publication processes.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  1. Submitting the manuscript through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

  2. Ensuring that all listed authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript submission.

  3. Communicating information regarding peer-review outcomes, manuscript revisions, and editorial decisions to all co-authors.

  4. Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of author identities, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and manuscript metadata.

  5. Coordinating responses to questions or concerns regarding research integrity before and after publication.

The corresponding author is not solely responsible for the scientific quality, accuracy, and integrity of the published article. These responsibilities are shared by all authors in accordance with their respective contributions.

5. Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be formally communicated in writing to the editorial office.

Such requests must include a clear and justifiable explanation and documented consent from all authors concerned.

The editorial team reserves the right to evaluate requests for authorship changes to ensure compliance with the journal's publication ethics and authorship policies.

Changes to authorship after publication may only be implemented through appropriate editorial procedures, including the publication of a correction notice when necessary.

6. Prohibited Authorship Practices

WASPADA: Wawasan Pengembangan Pendidikan strictly prohibits unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Gift or Honorary Authorship: Listing individuals as authors who have not made sufficient scientific or intellectual contributions to meet the established authorship criteria.

  • Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who have made substantial contributions and meet the authorship requirements.

  • Authorship Manipulation: Improperly adding, removing, or rearranging authors for personal, institutional, or other inappropriate purposes.

  • Misrepresentation of Authorship Information: Providing false or misleading information regarding author identities, institutional affiliations, or individual contributions.

Any suspected authorship misconduct will be addressed through a process of clarification, evaluation, and investigation in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The editorial team may request supporting documentation or additional clarification from the authors when necessary to resolve authorship disputes or suspected ethical violations.

7. Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools and systems cannot be listed or recognized as authors because they cannot fulfill the requirements of academic accountability, responsibility, and authorship approval.

Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and reliability of all content produced or assisted by AI technologies.

Any use of AI technologies that substantially influences manuscript preparation, data analysis, interpretation of research findings, or other significant aspects of the research process must be disclosed transparently in accordance with the journal's policies.

Authors must ensure that the use of AI technologies does not compromise academic integrity, research ethics, or the reliability of the published work.

Policy Applicability

This Authorship Criteria policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to WASPADA: Wawasan Pengembangan Pendidikan.

All submitting authors are expected to understand, acknowledge, and comply with these requirements throughout the manuscript submission, peer-review, publication, and post-publication processes.
